Lubrication Tips for Ball Screw.



When you forget to change your car's engine oil, it won't take long for many other engine problems to occur. If the metal-to-metal contacts are not lubricated, car engines can get hot and dirty, parts break and get stuck to the point where expensive replacement work is needed.

Using the ball screw without the desired lubrication and ignoring the metal-to-metal grinding contact has essentially the same effect as not changing the engine oil, which generally results in an unexpected downtime for the workshop machine.

Fortunately, keeping a thin film of lubrication, oil or grease constant solves many inappropriate problems, reduces friction and minimizes torque, prolonging screw life and working efficiency.




Lubrication applied:-

Whether you choose grease or oil, the ball screw must be clean and dry before lubricating it. Remove the accumulated parts of the grease or oil that have been in recent months so that they are not trapped in the balls or the screw cables, damaging the screws and the parts to which they are connected.

Do not apply too much lubricant at a time. Make sure the screw is wet when touched with enough lubricant to avoid wet metal-to-metal contact, do not wet the wet and wet ball screw from the rest of the machine.

Grease vs. oil


Knowing that the ball screw must be lubricated semi-regularly is only half the battle. The other half knows exactly what type of lubrication should be used.

Oil is sometimes considered less maintenance than fat because it has less maintenance than fat and tends to remain better inside the ball nut.

The oil generally requires a pump and a filtering system and works well when the operating speed, load size and temperature are low or medium. However, if any of these three factors is too extreme, the oil coating becomes useless, which can cause friction and damage from metal to metal.

Grease, on the other hand, can enter directly into the screw or a ball nut when drilling and pumping grease. The grease can handle high speeds and can be used with additives to produce synthetic lubricants that can handle more extreme temperatures, load sizes and speeds. However, the fat should not be used for molybdenum or graphite di-sulfide. This is because the friction level is really too low.
